Individual Home Sessions

Description:
Individual Home Sessions provide opportunities to individualize your child’s interactive cooking session. Based on your child's goals, we create a session with individualized instruction, visual support tools, language/learning enrichment, and parent guidance. Each session includes your pre-chosen cooking activity from our monthly menu options and consultation with teachers and private therapy providers to collaborate on your child's goals and progress.

  • Standard Individual Sessions are 60 to 90 minutes in length, including the cooking session, language/learning enrichment activities and parent guidance for home practice.
We provide:
  • 60 to 90 minute hands-on, adult-child cooking activity
  • Supervision, expertise and parent guidance
  • Individualized instruction based on your child’s level of language & learning
  • Visual support tools
  • Chef aprons provided during session
  • Language/learning enrichment activities, instructions and suggestions
  • Interactive preparation and after-session clean-up

Our base fee is $125 for the standard session; $50 per additional half hour. Two siblings may be included at no additional fee. Families with more than 2 participating siblings will be charged at the Group Session rate. Allergy and diet restrictions may require a $10 additional ingredient fee per child. A travel fee will be applied if our travel distance exceeds 30 miles to a location.

Description:
Group Home Sessions provide opportunities to individualize your child’s interactive cooking session with the presence of siblings & peers. Based on your child's goals, we create a session with individualized instruction, visual support tools, language/learning enrichment, and parent guidance. Each session includes your pre-chosen cooking activity from our monthly menu options and consultation with teachers and private therapy providers to collaborate on your child's goals and progress. Services may include instruction of a child’s communication partners, such as family members and peers on how to facilitate improved communication, participation and interaction with others.

  • Standard Group Sessions are 60 to 90 minutes in length, including the cooking session, language/learning enrichment activities, social participation and parent guidance for home practice.
  • Children must be able to participate in a small group learning environment without significant need for one-on-one assistance.

Grocery Store Outings

Description:
The Grocery Store Outings, “Plan-Shop-Create,” are individualized sessions open to kids ages 4 to 8 years old who are working on a elementary-age school curriculum. Each session includes your pre-chosen cooking activity from our monthly menu options and the standard Sprinkled with Words package. Together with your child we will make a plan for ingredients, shop for those ingredients and create a food item to eat. These sessions provide opportunity to address a variety of your child’s learning and communication goals; from social interaction & communication in the store to simple money concepts and task organization. Children must be able to follow basic social rules within crowds.

We Provide:
  • 2 to 2.5 hour adult-child cooking activity
  • Supervision, expertise and parent guidance
  • Individualized instruction based on your child’s level of language & learning

Additional siblings (up to 3 total) may participate in the cooking portion of this session at home if parent is also participating.

Speech-Language Screening Measures

Description
Speech-Language screening measures provide early identification of potential speech and language delays a child may be presenting with or at risk for. Standardized and criterion-referenced measures will be used in addition to observations based on interactions throughout the cooking session. Information gathered at these times will be used to refer a client as needed for a comprehensive speech and language evaluation by an outside speech-language pathologist.

We provide

  • Combined 60-minute cooking activity and screening measure with your child
  • 30-minute post consultation with you

“Meal Talk” Facilitative Learning for Parents/Caregivers Coming Soon!

Our Meal Talk program teaches and guides parents/caregivers on how to incorporate active learning opportunities into cooking at home with your child/ren. Sessions are individualized to meet your family’s needs and will address such goals as increasing communication skills, social interaction, participation in cooking, increasing the variety of foods a child samples and may eat, healthy food choices and much more! This program requires full commitment and participation by parents/caregivers during each session.

Description:
Sprinkled with Words offers group camp and after-school cooking sessions for kids ages 2 to 8 years old. These sessions are great opportunities for kids to participate in fun extra-curricular activities with peers! Class descriptions are provided below. Children must be able to participate in a small group learning environment without significant need for one-on-one assistance. Participants must be able to separate from parent/caregiver. Dates, times, session lengths & availability will vary by age group and school site.

 

Little Bites- This class is formed for kids ages 2 to 4 that are in the early stages of speech & language development. Group size is small, accommodating 2 to 4 children per adult, depending on individual needs. In our cooking session we will follow simple, visual steps to create food and promote hands-on & verbal participation. Language goals include following one-step directions, labeling ingredients & tools, requesting and beginning describing skills. We’ll also incorporate oral-motor lip, tongue and cheek movements & speech sound production with fun sensory-based techniques to rev up the system and get the kids excited about food. Session activities may include other language-enriching activities, such as story-times, interactive songs and kitchen play. Group participation and sampling of foods is always encouraged, but never forced.

 

Foodies- This class is formed for kids ages 4 to 6. Group sizes vary from 4 to 6 children per adult, depending on individual needs. In our cooking session, we will follow text and visual steps to create food and promote hands-on learning in a social setting. Language goals include following two-three step directions, learning and using novel vocabulary, increasing sentence lengths from 4 to 7 words, asking questions, sequencing and temporal concepts (first, next) and social language for requesting, turn-taking and inquiring. Pre-kindergarten math, literacy and science concepts may be incorporated into sessions. Language & learning enrichment activities such as story times, sequence coloring pages and food games may be included in these sessions. Group participation and sampling of foods is always encouraged, but never forced.

 

Sous Chefs- This class is formed for kids ages 5 to 8. Group size varies from 4 to 6 children per adult, depending on individual needs. The cooking session is created to increase your child’s language & learning skills through descriptive, sequencing, hands-on activities. These groups promote & focus on social-participation for team cooking creations. We incorporate TEKS appropriate goals, including language, math, science and social skills. Kids will be involved in every step of the cooking process to create their food and then relish in the delight of eating it. Language enriching activities such as story sequencing retells, paper-pencil activity sheets and food games may be included in these sessions. Group participation and sampling of foods is always encouraged, but never forced.
